FAQs

Even Hermione Granger might not know these...

In light of COVID-19, how has camp changed?

Professors will ensure that all CDC Summer Camp Regulations and Restrictions are being adhered to. Currently, face coverings are not required.

Does my Witch or wizard have to have read all of the books to attend?

NO! While we do, very much, encourage all of the campers to read the Harry Potter series, we have designed the camp to be an unforgettable and incredibly fun experience even if they have not read a single page of the series. However, since some campers attending will have read all of the books (multiple times) as well as seen all of the movies (multiple times), we must warn you that spoilers will most likely be discussed amongst wizarding campers.

How exactly does the camp work?

On the first day we sort every camper into houses.  Throughout the week each house competes for House Points.  House Points will be granted for winning Wizarding Challenges, Dueling, Quidditch, Harry Potter Trivia, or any of the other magical activities we complete.  On the last day, campers will compete to be in the Medal of Magical Merit to earn 50 House Points for their house.  While there can only be one winning house, we know that every camper will enjoy their time spent at The Old Stone Academy for Witchcraft and Wizardry.  The fun literally never stops when making patronuses and potions, sipping on ButterBeer, and playing games of Quidditch.  Your camper will wish they had a Time Turner to do it all over again and again!

What is the age range?

Camp activities are designed for ages 7-12 years old. However, we find that when younger campers attend with an older friend or family member, all witches and wizards in attendance have a spectacular time. Also, slightly older campers are also welcome! For specific questions about your camper's age feel free you contact us the muggle way with email!

Is it air-conditioned?

YES!  However, the building is over 100 years old and the summers do get hot.  We recommend that campers dress accordingly and bring water bottles as we will be playing quidditch outside.

Should I send my WItch or wizard with snacks and lunch?

YES! We give the house elves the summers off so lunch will NOT be provided.  We do break for lunch daily and there is no option to buy lunch. So, please make sure to pack a lunch for your camper. We do not need any campers turning into hungry mountain trolls! We typically break for a 30 minute lunch at 11/11:30AM. However, if your hungry little gnome needs a snack before lunchtime, they may have one at any time, if they bring it. The only consumables we provide are occasional Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans, ice pops and ButterBeer to conclude the week!

What if my child has allergies?

We remind campers before every snack to never share their food with others since this could be a potential health risk.  We also remind campers to thoroughly clean their space when they are done eating.  Before giving out any small food items given out during the camp (Bertie-Bott's Every-Flavor Beans, homemade ButterBeer, ice pops, etc) we will remind campers if they have any food allergies to please refrain from eating the treats and to see a professors for an alternative treat!

Can my WItch or wizard wear a robe or other Harry Potter gear or paraphernalia?

ABSOLUTELY ! However, no matter what your camper tells you, robes and Harry Potter gear is NOT required.  We do encourage students to make their own Harry Potter themed items to bring in and show to the other campers.  This may even get them some extra House Points!  Who doesn't love a homemade snitch??
